According to the Vacheron heritage department, this watch was born with the 18K gold integrated bracelet and its guilloché decoration internally named 'motif 230', hence the reference number is 43031/230J referring to this particular bracelet type.
Vacheron Constantin launched its ultra-thin perpetual calendar, reference 43031 in 1983, following the lead of Audemars Piguet, having launched theirs in 1978. It had a distinct month subdial with 4 quadrants for leap year indication, something its predecessor from Audemars Piguet did not display until later when the leap year indicator hand was added by both companies.
