DIAL: Black matte dial with beveled date aperture at 3 o’clock, tritium hour markers.

CASE: 40mm, stainless steel with black 60 min rotating bezel and sapphire crystal, helium escape valve.

MOVEMENT: Caliber 3035, automatic, 27 jewels

CONDITION REPORT: The tritium on the dial and hands has evenly aged to a nice even cream color. The case is worn, but unpolished, pinholes are still crisp and overall a strong and thick case with original bevels.

NOTES: The Sea-Dweller reference 16660 is the successor of the original 1665. It was produced from 1978 to about 1988 and had a few technological upgrades including a bigger helium release valve, sapphire crystal and the 3035 caliber. This new caliber featured a higher frequency of 28,800, improved shock resistance and a quickset date.
In the early years of production, the 16660 was made alongside the 1665 and had a matte dial as well. The subsequent 16660 were fitted with glossy dials that had white gold surround applied tritium hour markers.
The depth rating on the watch improved with sapphire crystal and case redesign from 610m up to 1220m, as reflected on the dial.
