The Richard Mille RM005 was the first automatic watch launched by the brand in 2004. The intricately crafted and decorated titanium baseplate is visible on both sides and the challenges of using this lightweight metal for the baseplate were not small. On the dial side, we have a see-through crystal dial with printed hours and a date window. The date wheel is transparent allowing the numbers to be obscured with the exception of the current date that is contrasted by a white background and suddenly made apparent. This crystal disc avoids the impediment of a clear view of the mechanism so often masked by the date wheel.
The 3 piece tonneau case made of titanium offers lightweight comfort as well as its curved shaped front and back which provide the ideal ergonomic proportions.
