Rolex Submariner 5512, Matte Zinc Oxide transitional dial, Meters First
Serial: 1652844
Circa: 1967
Reference: 5512
DIAL: Black matte with trititum hour markers
CASE: 40mm, stainless steel with black rotating 60-min bezel.
MOVEMENT: Caliber 1570, Automatic, Chronometer, 26 jewels
BRACELET: Rolex stainless steel Oyster Rivet Stretch 6636/58 dated 1.66
CONDITION REPORT: The dial and hands are mint, the dial glows like early matte zinc oxide dials should, while the hands don't glow which is common on tritium transitions like this one. The case was carefully refinished and has a crisp and thick feel and the bezel has faded to a beautiful light grey color. Overall, stunning example.
NOTES: This Rolex Submariner 5512 configuration is the 'real McQueen' as Steve McQueen famously wore this model and configuration although later it was mistaken for an Explorer II 1655.
