The grey Roman "Buckley" dial is one of the rarer configurations for a quickset 16030 and especially in this condition.

The Buckley Dial is a distinctive feature found in vintage Rolex Datejust models from the 1970s and 1980s, particularly on quickset references 16014 and 16030. Notably, the Buckley Dial, known for its printed Roman Numerals, differs from modern Rolex designs that feature applied numerals, often in precious metals or diamonds. Advocates appreciate the Buckley Dial's design for its spacious and well-organized layout, emphasizing legibility. This dial style has also been used in other Rolex models like the Day-Date and Oysterquartz, adding a unique touch to these vintage timepieces.
The Buckley Dial is named after John Buckley, owner of Tuscany Rose, a vintage watch shop. Despite lacking the celebrity status of figures linked to other Rolex models, Buckley's passion and expertise in vintage Rolex, especially these printed dials, significantly boosted their popularity in the pre-owned market. His passion for these specific type of dials earned it the nickname "Buckley Dial" within the watch community, establishing its significance in horological history.
